Sound Hints

If a game doesn‘t sound like expected, edit the sound settings of DOSBox by using the Sound Toolbar item. Usually, leave them to the standard settings given, unless a game requests different settings.

Hint: Most games requires IRQ of Soundblaster set to 5, while DOSBox standard value for IRQ is set to 7. Either set the DOSBox value of IRQ to 5 or run the game setup (if available) and set its IRQ value to 7.

The "Mixer settings" menu item of the "Sound" Toolbar item contains in the "Mixer sample rate" Action sub menu a "Global Sound Rate" option. This option enables you to set all PC sound rates (SoundBlaster rate, PC sound rate and Tandy sound rate) to the same value, to the value you selected at the "Mixer Sound Rate" setting, so you don‘t have to mess with different settings then.
